MAT Kosovo was honoured to host the International Mine Action Awareness Day (IMAAD) on behalf of the Mine Action Centre for the Ministry for the Kosovo Security Force (MFSK), Wednesday, 04 April 2018.
The 4th April 2018 saw all those involved in Kosovo mine action and peace support come together at the MAT EOD & ERW Training Establishment in Peja, western Kosovo as part of the International Mine Action Awareness Day (IMAAD), an annual event hosted by all nations conducting mine action clearance programs globally.
Ahmet Sallova the head of the Kosovo Mine Action Centre requested that MAT Kosovo host the event on their behest which we were delighted to accept.
The event was extremely well attended by all with representation from the MFSK, Kosovo Security Force (KSF) NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) US EOD and elements of the Militaries from Italy, Switzerland, Albania, Austrian and Ukraine, and others. Additionally, other agencies and actors in Kosovo provided staff and stands to enhance the event, namely; the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), the International Committee Red Cross (ICRC), the HALO Trust and Norwegians Peoples Aid (NPA) – thanks to all for making the event such a success.
It was also great to see many old faces from former Kosovan demining and BAC clearance teams. The event culminating in a group photograph with over 150 attendees.
Same time next year!
