Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 & 14001 Internal Auditors Course

Course Aim: To provide students with the required knowledge, skills and aptitude to effectively interpret and apply the following three main Quality (QMS) and Environmental (EMS) Management System components to Mine Action:


    1. Standards and common procedures that define the rules, norms and required performance of an organisation.
    2. The internal management systems (e.g. ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004) that encourage an organisation to achieve these standards.
    3. Institutional arrangements and national and international professional bodies establishing the rules and norms and performance requirements.
    4. Monitor whether performance requirements are being met.


The first half of the course covers the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 Internal Auditor Course:

General Overview and Introduction to ISO 9001, Understanding the Requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 9001 Documentation Requirements, Managing Nonconformities, General Overview and Introduction to ISO 14001, Understanding the Requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 14001 Documentation Requirements, ISO 14001 Monitoring and Legal Requirements, General Overview and Introduction to Internal Auditing, Practical Implementation and Reporting for Internal Auditing.

The second half of the course will discuss the relevance of Quality and Environmental Management Systems to Mine Action:

General Overview & Introduction into Humanitarian Mine Action Processes, Duties & Responsibilities of Employees, Employers, International & National Standards for Mine Action, Introduction to Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA), Introduction to Quality Management Systems, QMS, QA & QC Responsibilities, QA & QC Practical Techniques, Accreditation Process of Manual, Mechanical & MDD Clearance Operations, De-mining Tools, Equipment & PPE, Emergency Procedures & Casualty Evacuation Drills, QC Sampling, Demolitions & Testing & Evaluation of all De-mining Drills, Explosives Handling, Storage & Transportation, Site Restoration & Land Release.

Successful students will receive an Internal Auditor Certificate for The British Assessment Bureau’s EMS & QMS Internal Auditor Course.
