The MAT Kosovo EOD Training School has formally offered its support to the Kosovo Health Authorities during the COVID-19 crisis. At a meeting with the Health Management Team of the city of Peja and with the management of the Regional Hospital, MAT Kosovo representative, Dr Burim Kotori, on behalf of the directors and the school, communicated the terms of the offer of support.
The offer presented by Dr. Kotori includes the possibility of using all the non-EOD related assets and facilities of the school, including an ambulance vehicle, facilities to house and feed dozens of residents, further vehicles such as a mini-van and trucks, and many other assets such as offices, classrooms, storage facilities, and site-security; Many of MAT Kosovo’s staff have signed up to be available on a voluntary basis. The Health Authorities are aware of the capabilities and facilities offered and have expressed gratitude for the support. Head of Peja regional hospital Dr Skender Dreshaj stated.
“We are very pleased to note MAT Kosovo’s material intent to support the local community at such critical times. It is very reassuring that we have access to the additional emergency capabilities offered to the community by MAT Kosovo, should we require them as the situation develops.”
The MAT Kosovo EOD School is a local non-profit organisation, one of the biggest foreign-owned employers in Western Kosovo, and serves customers worldwide, training them how to best mitigate and eliminate the threat posed by explosive remnants of war. Ben Remfrey, the managing director, stated:
“We have been part of the community fabric in Peja for over 20 years now. We are just doing our part. No-one will or can let each other down in times like this.”
