Our Training Facilities
MAT Kosovo has at its disposal a number of realistic and diverse demolitions ranges, where to conduct demolitions for IMAS EOD levels 1 to 3+, ERW Risk Management, Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM), Mine Risk Education (MRE), IMAS Conversion Course (CC), IMAS IEDD Level 1 & 2 Course (Combined) and IMAS IEDD Level 3 Course.
Poliex
MAT Kosovo has exclusive use of a fully licensed explosives demolitions range close to our establishment in Peja, located across the border in Montenegro. There, IMAS EOD level 3 and 3+ students are able to conduct ‘live’ demolition training on a wide range of UXO targets from grenades to 250 Kg bombs.
Poliex is available all year round, not only for training but also for the conduct of research and development (R&D) and Trials and Evaluation (T&E) of demolitions equipment and disposal techniques. We are confident that no one in the HMA industry currently offers this capability backed by HMA experts who can provide guidance, advice in support of any R&D and T&E while also providing range support to ensure a client achieves their objective. In addition, MAT Kosovo can offer additional support in the manufacture and supply of resources and energetic targets in support of R&D and T&E projects.
Moreover, Poliex is used for the delivery of our Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) courses where the Ammunition Storage Areas (ASA) within the facility are utilised for the enhancement of realistic training.
Phonoshec Range
Ponochec Range is a short drive from MAT Kosovo training school in Peja. This range is available to MAT Kosovo as a dedicated demolition facility, where IMAS EOD level 1 – 2 and IEDD students are able to conduct ‘live’ demolitions training on a wide range of UXO and IED targets. Taught basic demolition skills, ranging from confidence charges to IED disruption, give our trainees the confidence and capabilities needed for operations in the field. In addition, this location was a former confirmed hazardous Area (CHA) requiring Battle Area Clearance (BAC). Now a released land, MAT Kosovo conducts BAC exercises where students are faced with as near to real scenario as is physically possible.
Other External Training Environments
MAT Kosovo also has numerous external training areas within the Peja region, ranging from open fields to steep densely vegetated ground for the training of BAC and demining, multiple routes and areas for delivery of IEDD courses and spot tasks. The diversity of the training areas enhances the training experience delivered by MAT Kosovo.
