What type of job position would I be applying for if I attend the Field Operators IMAS EOD Level 1&2 course?
If you are seeking to be a technical advisor and operator in a foreign country (a country where you are working as a guest) it will be more difficult to find a job as these deminer and searcher roles are given to the local national staff, who have a better understanding of their local environment, terrain and other threats in the area and region. This also helps the local population gain a livelihood and improve moral by giving them employment (earning money for their families) and empower those employed to clear the ERW from their own country.
This is why we recommend that people who are seeking a career in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) attend both the Field Operators IMAS EOD Level 1&2 course and the IMAS EOD Level 3 course. Once you have your IMAS EOD Level 3 knowledge, certification and skill, you have a very good chance of employment. This will set you up to be for example, a Demining Mine Site Manager or an EOD Technical Advisor in HMA. After a few years’ experience many go on to become Project or Programme Managers or Operations Managers.
What type of job position would I be applying for if I attend the IMAS EOD Level 3 course?
After gaining your IMAS EOD Level 3 knowledge and certificate you will be able to apply for employment as a HMA Demining Mine Site Manager or an EOD Technical Advisor.
What is the average salary of an IMAS EOD L3 Site Manager?
Depending on location, position and organization, the average salary for an IMAS EOD L3 is typically anywhere from $3,500 to $10,500 per month.
Can I get the school’s help getting a job?
As a training establishment we can make recommendations for those attending our courses and introductions to companies, based on those attending training’s performance and attitude. We do find placements for those who do well on our courses – agencies actively recruit from our graduates. We do not guarantee work to any one after training is completed. However, keep in mind that MAT Kosovo is the preferred training establishment by some of the largest NGOs in Humanitarian Mine Action such as; the Danish Church Aid, Danish Demining Group, Norwegian People’s Aid, Free Fields Foundation, G4S, The National Units for Mine Action and Development Organization (NUMAD) – Sudan, and many others. If you have an IMAS certificate having graduated at the MAT Kosovo EOD & ERW Training Establishment, you are more likely to gain employment in the industry.
Is a certificate issued by MAT Kosovo’s EOD & ERW Training Establishment recognised worldwide?
Yes, the MAT Kosovo EOD & ERW Training Establishments Course Graduation and Certification is highly prized and is recognized globally as being the very best International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) compliant certification available.
Our training courses are externally accredited by the Open College Networks (OCN) for the provision of training and educational standards of excellence. Those trained to our IMAS Compliant course standards can be certified and become a card-carrying member of the Institute of Munitions Clearance and Search Engineers (IMCSE).
In regards to course breakdown, how much classroom versus hands on in field work is there?
We pride ourselves on practical aspects of training, so we achieve ‘at least’ 50/50 in terms of class (theoretical) and hands on (practical).
