Yesterday, 24 February, marked the fourth anniversary of the RF’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On this day of much significance and thought, an emotional day, our Ukrainian female IMAS IEDD Level 1 and 2 students were honoured to attend a commemorative event held at the Government building, in Pristina, Kosovo – following an invitation from the Prime Minister and the Government of Kosovo, arranged by UN Women.
The gathering created space for meaningful discussion about the ongoing struggle of the Ukrainian people, their day-to-day realities, and the profound changes they have endured as a direct result of the war. At the same time, it was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the strength, resilience and bravery that continue to define Ukraine and its people.
One of our students took the floor and shared her personal story, speaking openly about her life before the war and how it has changed since. She reflected on the impact on her family and the deeply personal, noble reasons that led her to pursue a career in this most dangerous of fields. Her words were powerful and heartfelt. As a gesture of appreciation and solidarity, she presented a bracelet to Kosovo’s Prime Minister, a simple yet deeply touching moment that resonated with everyone present.
Surrounded by fellow Ukrainian nationals currently living in Kosovo, our students were able to experience a small but meaningful sense of home away from home. On such an important day, while far from their families and country, they spent time among friends, speaking their native language, sharing stories, and strengthening their network.
Elena Qorraj, Member of the MAT Kosovo Board of Directors, also addressed the audience and spoke about PCM and MAT Kosovo. She highlighted our continued support to Ukrainian nationals, noting that to date we have trained well over 500 Ukrainian individuals across various IMAS levels of competency, leading the way since February 2022. This milestone reflects not only our professional commitment, but also our solidarity.
We extend our sincere gratitude to The Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, Ejup Maqedonci, Minister of Defence, and UN Women Kosovo for their kind invitation and for bringing people together in remembrance, reflection and unity. We thank UDA for their long-term friendship and commitment and above all, we admire the people of Ukraine, the most awesome people and for these women, who we admire and have the utmost respect for. Slava Ukraini!
